Fostering an inclusive, connected and healthy Airdrie where everyone feels they belong.
Healthier Together Airdrie aims to utilize local resources and collaboration to create opportunities for all residents to thrive in their community.
Healthier Together Airdrie (HTA) is a council-endorsed partnership between the City of Airdrie, Alberta Health Services, community partners and residents. It is centered around health being more than just health care; it also encompasses lifestyle and environmental factors.
The initiative follows a stepwise approach to bring together multiple sectors (i.e., health services, schools, workplaces, community) and identify opportunities in Airdrie where preventative health factors or health promotion can be further supported through a community-based action plan.
Together, these key action areas inform and shape the work we do, providing a clear and strategic framework to guide our efforts. They help us stay focused on what truly matters, ensuring that our initiatives align with our goal of supporting a healthier, more connected community.
The first action area emphasizes the importance of fostering social connections and building a strong sense of community. We recognize that strong relationships and a feeling of belonging are essential for mental and emotional health, and they can also enhance overall quality of life. By working to strengthen social ties, we aim to create environments where people feel supported, valued, and connected.
The second action area focuses on improving access to active living opportunities and recreation, which are critical for physical health and wellness. We understand that access to affordable recreational activities can be a barrier for many, and addressing this challenge helps ensure that everyone has the opportunity to engage in physical activities that contribute to long-term health.
